Making Memories for Those in Hospice Care

Verena Shiflett, a 48-year-old Cincinnati-area mother in hospice care for a lung disorder, had one final dream: to see her 18-year-old daughter, Rhonda, graduate from high school. Hospice of Southwest Ohio’s Make a Memory program made the dream a reality with the help of Rhonda’s school, Hamilton High School, and Jeff Tanner, the local representative of Jostens Scholastic, the nation’s leading supplier of high school and collegiate gear. Family members, classmates, teachers and hospice staff gathered to watch Rhonda, a developmentally disabled child with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, receive her diploma and celebrate the milestone achievement on February 22, 2019.
